Process Controls Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • PLC Programming of burners, oxidizers, boilers, and scrubbers using Allen Bradley systems (hardware and software)
  • Generation of Sequence of Operations, Cause & Effect, and Control Logic Diagrams to support customer DCS programming
  • Control Panel checkout, wiring modifications, and customer demonstration (Factory Acceptance Testing) as required.
  • Field service/start up, consisting of electrical/mechanical checkout, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer training
  • Phone based troubleshooting support for customers.

Desired Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Experience with function block programming as well as the Allen Bradley Toolkit.
  • Experience with Combustion Systems (burners, air heaters, oxidizer, boilers, etc)
  • Knowledge and understanding of industrial process instrumentation and controls including pressure regulators, flow meters, dampers & flow control valves, safety shut off valves, transmitters, thermocouples, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Safety focused with experience working in an industrial process plant environment.
  • Confident and curious problem solver who can think and deliver under pressure
  • Strong people skills and the ability to build long-term relationships with customers and suppliers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet the travel demands of the position with up to 2 weeks per month of domestic and international travel.
  • Must be able to work long hours in a hot environment; standing, walking and lifting up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb up to 8 flights of stairs on equipment platforms multiple times daily

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • None

Work Environment:

  • Office
  • Work in and around chemical and other industrial plants near heavy machinery and high temperature equipment

Travel Requirements:

  • Applicant must have US passport and willingness to travel internationally
  • This position requires travel to PCC customer sites for design reviews, equipment commissioning, and start ups. Typical travel is approximately 25% - with peaks and lulls.

Mechanical Drafter/Designer

Responsibility and authority:

  • Utilizes Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) system or equivalent to complete assignments in support of Project Engineers
  • Primary area of emphasis is 2D using AutoCAD
  • Secondary system is SolidWorks.
  • Develop new Models and Drawings for projects as required by Sales and Project Engineer. This will include the layout, design, and detail of projects per verbal and written instructions.
  • Typical PCC equipment drawing packages include the following:
    • General Arrangement (layout of equipment and ducting in a designated plot area)
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (schematic design)
    • Piping (pipe skids and interconnecting piping)
    • Fabrication (detail drawings of all equipment)
    • Refractory (design and description of refractory material)
    • Equipment Loading and Anchor Bolt Layouts
    • Structural (platform, ladder and support steel)
  • Assisting in the maintenance of product standards and master drawings as well as files on assigned projects.
  • Prepares various drawings of parts, assemblies, and products, including various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse views, hidden lines and small intricate details.
  • Makes arithmetic computations using standard formulas.
  • Check own and other Drafter/Designer's drawings for accuracy.

Minimum Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities:

  • Associate's Degree in Drafting or equivalent combination of experience.
  • AutoCAD experience 3-5 years of AutoCAD 2012 or higher.
  • SolidWorks experience 2-3 years required or equivalent.
  • Steel Design and Fabrication
  • Piping Design and Fabrication
  • Ability to transition 2D drawings into 3D models.
  • Strong communications skills and ability to take direction and provide feedback.
  • Critical thinker who can make strong recommendations and apply sound judgement.
